Let me introduce myself, I’m Rachael Pitman, the15milefoodie - I chose that name because it sums up the distance the majority of my content relates to, but as you will see I do travel for great food.

I review all hospitality large and small and enjoy writing about local small producers, sharing contacts for collaboration where ever possible.

Having spent twenty years in a teaching career in Southampton I relocated to Christchurch in Dorset to enjoy a new life by the sea.

Initially we were without a kitchen for quite a while, forcing us to eat out or get takeaways. I soon realised this is a beautiful place to make your home, has the most amazing food producers and places to eat, so a blog would be an easy way to share my knowledge.

I initially started writing in conjunction with other food writers here in Dorset but I soon found more connections just over the border in the New Forest and Hampshire as well, so my own the15milefoodie story began.

I am a passionate supporter of all of our local food producers and hospitality businesses, they need our support more than ever as we slowly get back to some form of normality after the pandemic.

Let’s support our farmers & producers, eat more seasonally to reduce our carbon footprint and shop and dine out in support of our great local communities.

If you're a local business who would like to be part of my journey I'd love to hear from you, so please contact me to collaborate:
