Taste of the South-updates

Former Michelin star chef Russell Brown is the latest top chef to announce he will be at the forthcoming Taste of the South Festival in Dorset, 21st & 22nd July.

Visitors will be able to watch Russell prepare squid and chorizo with a piquillo pepper dressing, using seasonal ingredients, from his first book, ‘Well Seasoned, Exploring, Cooking & Eating with the Seasons’ with co-author Jon Haley, which was published in March.

Having been involved in the food industry across the West Country for more than 20 years, Russell currently runs Creative about Cuisine, a business that focuses on food writing, food photography and consultancy. Russell has been described by Tom Kerridge (whose Marlow pub The Hand and Flowers is the only UK pub with two Michelin stars) as “A fantastic British chef cooking beautiful ingredients that revolve around the seasons.” Russell has worked in hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafés across the region. He was awarded a Michelin star at his Dorset restaurant, Sienna, in 2010, retained until it was sold in 2015.

Taste of the South will showcase the region’s top talent, not merely food and drink, but also art and culture.

The two-day festival, organised by Jackie Phillipson, co-founder of ROUTEpr, will be held at Chapel Gate, Christchurch, over the weekend of July 21-22. Russell will be appearing on Sunday July 22 and will be giving away a signed copy of ‘Well-Seasoned’ on the day. Set to be a ‘great day out’ for families, visitors and locals at the start of the summer holidays, an event app Taste of the South UK is available to download on the App Store for both iPhone and android devices - a handy way to check out when chef demonstrations are taking place.
