Kala Thai opens In Bournemouth

If you love Thai food and great cocktails then this is really good news for you.

Kala Thai opened 3 weeks ago and can be found on Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth opposite Horseshoe Common, after a total refurbishment and refit the new restaurant bravely opened its doors to a post lockdown world.

Thankfully I am pleased to say the restaurant has been a huge success with most days being fully booked despite it being such a difficult time for the hospitality industry. To be honest once you taste the food you will know why.

I was lucky to be invited along to a pre launch event where I could sample some of the dishes and check out a cocktail or two.

The new independent restaurant is operated by Thai businessman and Head Chef Tom Saengthong who is originally from Bangkok, Thailand, it was clear on meeting him he is passionate about producing freshly prepared authentic dishes, exactly as he would of done in his restaurants back home.

The main menu features all the usual Thai favourites such as satays, stir fries, noodles, etc, but I have vowed to go back soon with my husband to try the Weeping Tiger (Chefs favourite dish) it's steak marinated in coriander, cumin, rum and soy sauce- it sounds so good.

The food is all freshly prepared on site and as someone who has peeped into their kitchen whilst they were working it really is a well oiled machine. Mushroom chopping, carrot carving, noodle frying it was all going on.

Something that I am sure is going to go down particularly well with the local workforce (but obviously not restricted to) is the lunchtime menu that is served 12-3pm. It includes all the favourites and represents excellent value at

1 course £7.95

2 courses £9.85

Behind the bar you will find experienced bartender Mitch, serving up the most delicious Thai cocktails either from the extensive menu or if you don't see anything you fancy he will happily create something to suit your palate. Dare I say it, the non alcoholic cocktails are just as good as the alcoholic ones.

My thanks to Route PR for the invitation to the launch and huge congratulations to Tom and his team at Kala Thai, I have no doubt that they will continue to see full booking sheets and see many contented faces after experiencing your delicious food.
