Brasserie Blanc in Bournemouth is located within the Marriot Highcliffe Hotel and as such a little bit of a secret, the chain of restaurants founded by Raymond Blanc now has 20 restaurants across the UK.
We have been to the sister restaurant The Oaks in Highcliffe several times but last week I was invited to Brasserie Blanc Bournemouth and we were really impressed with our first visit.
Our table was booked for 7pm on a Friday in November and when we arrived there was already a lively buzz in the restaurant. Next time we visit we will make sure it is during the day the hotel is located on the clifftop and the views from the terrace must be spectacular.
As we approach the Christmas season there are two menus to choose from including the Christmas option, not quite ready for my first Turkey meal I opted for the Dorset Crab starter from the Christmas menu and the rest from the Autumn menu.
The Christmas Party menu is great value at £32.50 per person and includes three courses, coffee and mince pie.
As we don't get many opportunities to eat in the style of our French neighbours we were keen to order a couple of classics in the shape of the Escargot and the Coq au Vin.
Of course there are plenty of other dishes to choose from and given the opportunity Simon will always go for a beautifully cooked steak and frites, it was served exactly as he likes it.
For desserts we chose the Poached Pear 'Pain Perdu' and the baked apple and Calvados crumble both perfectly cooked but probably unnecessary considering what we had already tucked away.
We couldn't fault our meals and will definitely be returning but what made our evening extra special was the incredible service, every member of staff we saw during dinner went out of their way to make sure guests where having a good time.
Our meal was complimentary but all opinions and photographs are my own.
Thanks for having us Brasserie Blanc Bournemouth we will be back soon, without a doubt.
